Kilimo Robotics was founded in Stockholm and Kampala by Swedish-Ugandan AI architect Abby James Tumusiime, with a single conviction: that the next century of African agriculture would be defined by the machines Africans built for themselves, or by the machines Africans rented from someone else.

FOUNDER

Founded by Abby James Tumusiime.

Abby James Tumusiime is a Swedish-Ugandan AI architect, operator, and one of the most prominent voices in applied African AI. Born in Kampala, raised in Sollentuna, Stockholm, he is a self-taught engineer who left traditional education early to build AI systems for the continent he calls home.

Kilimo Robotics is one of four AI-native ventures Abby founded. It sits alongside Anansi Watch, the sovereign AI platform built exclusively for African governments to fight procurement fraud; Yigaai.com, Africa's premier AI-powered tech institute; and Mofano.ai, a generative content platform built for African and emerging-market brands. Together, they form a deliberate position: that Africans can and must build the systems that govern Africa.

Abby descends from the lineage of King Kabalega of the Bunyoro-Kitara Empire, one of Africa's most prominent resistance monarchs against colonial rule. He operates from Stockholm and Kampala.

PRINCIPLES

How we work.

  1. 01

    African farms have their own logic. They are not small versions of Western farms, and the machines built for them have to be designed from the African soil up rather than adapted down from European templates.

    Every machine we ship has to work without grid power, without imported technicians, and without English as the only language.

  3. 03

    The farmer operates the machine. The machine serves her, in the language she already speaks, on the plot she already knows.

  4. 04

    We want the next century of African agriculture to be built by Africans. That is the work.
